Tried, tested, and true Scaled. Mr. Archer Millican, Mi t Helen Iddings, Mi Suo Floronte, Mr. William Hillman, Mr . Ruth Elgin, Mr . Agne liptcomb, Mi Chorlene Kiracofe. Standing Mr. Irving lindtey, Mr. Robert Garner, Mi» Dolly Collahon. DEDICATION In appreciation of their help for the last twenty years, the 1955 Compass honors Miss Dolly Callahan and Mrs. Ruth Elgin, social studies; Miss Sue Florance, biology; Mr. Robert Garner, dean of boys,-Mr. William Hillman, chemistry; Miss Helen Iddings and Mr. Irving Lindsey, mathematics; Miss Charlene Kiracofe, Latin; Mrs. Agnes Lipscomb, English; and Mr. Archer Millican, physics. Here are some interesting facts in the lives of these teachers; Mr. Garner is president of the Alexandria Education Association. While in college he played baseball and basketball and still plays an occasional set of tennis. Mrs. Elgin, who has visited eleven European countries, and Miss Callahan, whose favorite vacation lands are Scotland and Norway, derive keen pleasure from their travels. Miss Iddings comes from a family of eight children, all of whom attended Hanover College in Pennsylvania. 6 Mr. Millican, alias Pop, has taught thirty-three years in Alexandria. He majored in languages at Randolph-Macon College. Mr. Hillman played varsity football for two years at Emory and Henry College. He now enjoys golf for relaxation. Mrs. Lipscomb, who graduated from George Washington University and Georgia State, paints portraits and serving trays. Miss Kiracofe, graduate of Mary Baldwin College, also paints, and her greatest desire is to become an accomplished pianist. Miss Florance, a graduate of William and Mary College, lives on Florance Lane, named for her family, where she studies her garden firsthand. Mr. Lindsey enjoys classical music and gardening, and he is an avid TV fan. He formerly taught at the University of Virginia.
