For the students of GW there was a special “look”. And a whole lot of living, learning, and loving. All this is presented in CAVALIER ’79. Be- come aware of the look, be a participant in the living, marvel at the learning, and share in the loving. There was an entire year of being part of THE GW LOOK for nearly 2000 students. And close to 150 members and staff associates. For them all, there were satisfactions. For each there were stimulating experiences in this special year of living in the nearly 3,860 feet of hall, over 160 rooms, and 64 acres which make the GW plant. All of this would have been but an empty shell without the presence of an obvious caring. Rela- tionships of all kinds developed and flourished. Perhaps the reader will become aware of this as he notes the smiles on the faces of those pic- tured here in. As he reads about the accomplish- ment in so many areas, set forth in words and pic- tures.

Always on top ot things! Prin- cipal Robert Haskins relaxes on the lull desk ot power. Administration. Leaders who held the school together in all kinds of crises. At the top of it all was Mr. Robert Haskins. Though he could rely on those backing him up. it was he who had the final say. At the top it could get lonely, but it was rewarding to be able to help shape a new generation. Miss Doris Wilson, assistant principal, had the job of handling many of the disciplinary prob- lems that cropped up. Corrective measures ranged from detention to ISS. Book rentals, lunch rates, and patrolling the halls were also part of her duties. Next in line on the ladder came the other two assistant principals. Mr. Paul Thompson and Mr. James Slade. Mr. Slade had the responsibility of the PA office and the vocational building. Mr. Thompson was in charge of Driver's Education, library, and many other individual departments of GW. Even with all of these many things to do. both men took time to walk around campus and stop to talk with students. Behind every good administration there had to be a good staff of secretaries. Organization, phone calls, and all other business matters were their department. Without them, many things would probably not get done or would surely get lost in the shuffle.
