A DAT IN THE Weekends 8:00 am Many GW students enjoyed weekend activities in the J.T. Christopher Stadium. Whether it was a football game or track meet, the stadium was filled with students. 10:00 am Members of the Medical Careers Club gave up parts of their weekends to help the elderly at the Roman Eagle Nursing Home. As part of the training for their career, these students did varied things - from giving the residents their daily baths to simply taking the time to sit down and have a nice, friendly conversation with them. 11:00 am GW students often took off to the beach for a weekend during the summer months. Dawn Holliday was caught by surprise by a camera bug after coming in from a day on the beach.

wciPiiD er gw. The weather outside might have been wet, but stu- dents often went dry after many long hours of school work. Jayne Easley was one such student. After a long and heated discussion in English, she stopped for a refreshing drink of water. 1:00 pm Finally, the long awaited break had arrived. Students at GW enjoyed lunch not only as a time to satisfy their latest case of the munchies , but also as a time to socialize with friends not seen during class time. It also provided a good chance to catch up on last min- ute studying. The GW cafeteria was really a great place. 3:35 pm After a long day at school, GW stu- dents rushed home. The Dan River fol- lowed suit, rushing over the dam after several days of heavy rain.

WCIRIID OF GW 12:15pm Bobby Riggs? It couldn't be!” Well, it was. Although not too popular with Billie Jean King, Bobby Riggs was a big success with a large Danville audience. After speaking to a group in GW’s auditor- ium, he took on two of Danville’s best ten- nis players, one of which was Mrs. Martha Woods. Not a sore loser, Mrs. Woods asked for her opponent’s autograph. 3:15 PM A weekend eagerly anticipated by all was the weekend of Fes- tival in the Park. Students always enjoyed this event, especially the dunking booth. 29 5:30 pm Many students enjoyed rafting. Penny West, Sandy Van deVisser, and Berkley Bidgood were tired after a day on the river.
