wciRiiD er ew 2:45 pm A welcome relief after five long hours of school work. Sixth-period assemblies always seemed to draw large crowds. Whether the band was performing, or an outside group came to play, the students showed enthusiasm. An as- sembly at the end of the day made a long day of school work seem much, much shorter. 3:40 pm After the 3:30 bell rang and the students made their mad exodus, teachers piled up their belongings and ventured home, once the coast was clear. Even now, teachers still 25 had work to do. 8:30 pm Exposure to culture and dramatic art was welcome not only by stu- dents but the community. One such exciting event was brought by the performance of Madame Butterfly”, staged in the evening.

aV DAY iin the Wednesday 8:35 am Music was important to GW’s male stu- dents. However, more important was what it was played on. Early mornings often found many GW-ites gathered around a car whose owner was showing off his new jam sys- tem . 9:30 am In addition to the usual his- tory, math and science classes. GW students were offered a wide variety of vocational classes. A favorite with the girls was ste- nography. Each student learned skills such as shorthand which would help them in the fast- paced business world. 10:15 am Couldn’t wait to get here! Lane Smith showed enthusiasm at the thought of being a GW-ite. He found the halls an excellent place to ride his wheel. Lane was just one of many visitors.

aV DaVY UN TIHC Thursday Although the weather might have been wet and dreary, GW students always liked to start the day off as if the sun was shining. Those few minutes before school seemed to be the per- fect time to meet friends. 8:30 am He was a daily visitor to the GWHS office, but not for misbehaving. The United Parcel Ser- vice delivery man was often loaded down with packages addressed to 701 Broad Street. Packages were delivered daily and accurate records had to be kept in order to insure safe delivery. But what else would you expect for a place as busy as GWHS? 10:10 am The weather brightened and so did the heart of this student as he left class to attend an in-school meeting. These meetings were al- ways a welcome relief to any stu- dent.
