Last Will and Testament We, the Seniors of 1959-60, being of sound mind, hereby bequeath this last will and testament. ARTICLE I To the faculty, we bequeath our solemn pledge to ever uphold our Alma Mater. ARTICLE II To the Juniors, we wish to extend the best of luck in everything, especially their senior year at Carver. To the Sophomores, we will lots of effort in order to endure the next two years. To the Freshmen, we leave all the memories of our senior year. To the Eighth Grade, we leave the ability to strive hard to become a senior. ARTICLE III Clifton Taliaferro wills to James Graves the first seat in the tenor saxophone section of the band. Barbara Tinsley wills her ability to make the honor roll to Ellen Wesley, and the ability to become captain of patrols to Jean Turner. Jeffrey Gilmore wills to William McIntosh the ability to cheat without getting caught. Lillian Williams wills to Robert Robinson all her love. To Edward Grayson, Regina Gray wills all the success and happiness life can offer and to Lillian Gray the ability to become a senior. McKinley Carpenter wills to his brother and sister, Robert and Jane, the ability to succeed. Jeannette Bailey wills to Lillian Russell her position on the basketball team as forward. Barbara Gordon wills to her brother Richard Gordon all the ability to become a senior. Carole Ferguson wills to Natasha Ferguson her seat in the Agriculture Office as secretary. 22

Class Prophecy The Crystal Ball reveals what our classmates will be doing ten years from now. Estelle Williams has graduated from William Penn Business Institute, and is one of America ' s most successful career girls. Doris Porter is modeling bathing suits at Macey ' s Dept. Store. Ernestine Roy is an Art Major at Morgan State College. Her favorite subject is Roger Davis. Olivia Banks and John Slaughter are married and residing in Los Angeles, California. Annie Young is engaged to a certain Johnny Be Good.” Shirley Arrington and Marjorie Barbour are now attending Temple University in Philadelphia. Fred Banks is a dance instructor at the Arthur Murray Studios in New York, his as- sistant is Richard Lewis and his favorite partner Emma Ausberry. Jerry Taylor is now playing first clarinet with Benny Goodman ' s Orchestra, while Shelby gets most of his earnings. Ethel Daniels is now modeling at the Tall Apparel Shop, owned and operated by James Brown. Eugene Williams is one of the nations top Psychologists, with an income of beauti- ful young women. Regina Gray has talked her way into the White House. She entertains the president. Shirley Covington is private secretary to Lawrence Dade, one of the two best dressed men in America. Teresa Jackson was chosen as America ' s most beautiful young woman in a nation wide beauty contest. Melvin Hubbard has been worrying about a ring for Gloria Jett. His problems have been solved, thanks to the Cracker Jack Box. Barbara A. Tirtsley has been persuaded by Robert Turner to say I do, will this be her chance of a lifetime? Florence Hawkins and Katherine Carey are graduates of Apex School of Beauty. They specialize in the latest hairstyles. 21

Lottie Ann Gray wills to Virginia Coleman her position as captain on the cheering squad, and to become a hard working senior. Marilyn Humes wills her ability to talk her way out of everything to Roylene Greenwood and Marlene Glascoe. Shirley Covington wills Carthel Covington and LaVerne Dorsey her ability to make good grades and get along well with others. Doris Morton wills her two sisters Alice and Rosa the ability to leave other girl ' s boy friends alone. Eugene Williams wills to all eighth graders the ability to make the honor roll every six weeks. Henry Johnson wills to Elsie Dangerfield his picture to carry in her wallet to keep her from becoming lonesome. To Barbara Green, Sally Ellis wills all her twelfth grade books and to her sister Verlette Ellis the front seat on bus 29-57. Shelby Tyree wills her brother James a motorcycle to ride around the football field, so that he won ' t walk back and forth while watchi ng the game. Lillian Campbell wills her ability to stay out of the detention to Pauline Long. Emma Arrington wills to Beverly Arrington the ability to remain quiet in class. Emma Ausberry wills to Walter Butler, lots of effort so that he may become a famous football player. Annette Howard wills to Delcine Howard and Earline Walker her seat in Home Economics IV. Louise White wills to Janice Jordon the ability to remain on the honor roll during her years at Carver. Ernestine Roy wills her brother James Roy the ability to pass government under Miss Reavis. Ethel Daniels wills to Effie White the ability to get along with others. 23
