The Sailors of G-2 are a very busy group with a wide scope of operations. We conduct small arms training for all ship’s company on eight different weapons, maintaining a qualified pool of more than 2,500 Force Protection watch standers. Bomb Assembly is where the “Rubber meets the road” as far as ordnance operational support to the Air Wing. All missiles and bombs, from ungukled to laser guided, from 500 pounds to 2,000 pounds, are assembled and prepared for deliveery to the squadrons per the daily load plan requirements. Working through the night in 44 magazines over seven decks, these ordnance experts follow exact guidelines to ensure ordnance requirements are met on time with 100 percent effectiveness.
