cor per; £ r c r rSS George Washington Sailors had a second chance to enjoy Crete when the ship pulled into Souda Bay on Nov. 30.2002. The visit allowed GW Sailors a few days to see sites they may have missed when the ship visited the island in July. In addition to enjoying the sights. Sailors took advantage of Morale Welfare and Recreation-sponsored tours. The trips offered the crew a way to sec more ol the island than the average tourist. EWSA Josh Classen took the bus trip to the tow n of Mcskla, where the group stopped for some refreshments, and later. Omalos Mountain. Once they reached the plateau, the tour guide led Classen and about 20 other Sailors up Omalos' rocky cliffs. The beauty and seclusion were just what I needed. said the Oklahoma native. Steve Harrell, the carrier's Gym Boss, made sure GW athletes had the means to compete, too. Harrell helped organize a touch football competition, won by VAW- | NSA Souda Bay Sailors also licipatcd in basketball and volleyball tests.
