June 7 - June 9 Day 19 The D-Day commemoration was one day old when the ship anchored off the French coast, a short boat ride from fleet landing. The crew, understandably exhausted from the all the work leading up to June 6, took to the streets and cafes in search of a place to relax. Most of the Sailors who decided to spend liberty within city limits spent their time along Rue Jean Jaurcs, where the concentration of shops and restaurants was the most dense. Outside the city, the crew toured Normandy’s beaches, the majestic hill town Mont St. Michel and France’s weather worn coast. 64 Brest. France -—- = 1 IJ f BREST WELCOMES I THE U.S. NAVY P BREST
