RUNNING WILD I JL JO Jo Fllll ' I' I' 1 Jross country is a predominately in- dividual sport, however, Wal- ton's Varsity Girls Cross Coun- try team compet- ed together and grew as a team. The close friend- ships formed this season will con- tinue long after the races and practices have ended. The exciting season included many prestigious meets. The girls traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina for the Wendy's Invita- tional, and they captured honors at Clemson's Tiger Invitational. Walton is very proud of the Cross Country team, they were runner's up at the county and region meets and third place at the state meet. The stiff competition that the girls faced helped them grow and improve. The Most Valuable Runner was Susie Gardner, An- drea Chisolm captured the Coach's Award, and Karina John- son was Most Improved. The 1987 Varsity Cross Country ran away with top honors and a super sea- son. 88-VARSITY GIRLS CROSS CCUNTRY
