'l'0P NIITCII IIUNNEIL' V BUYS ILC. n 1987 the Varsi- ty Cross Country team was faced with a big chal- lenge. After win- ning the state last year, the quest for the 87 Crown still re- mained. Coach Shesky started the workouts early and had the team ready for another exciting year. During the season, the team earned enough credits to place second in the Region. Following the Region meet, the team went on to come in just shy of the state titleg they earned an impressive third place. As the season ended, the team gained respect for the effort and time they had put into their sport. The banquet offered awards for key players on the team. The 1987 MVP for the season was Shawn Young. John Sprague won the hon- or of receiving the Coach's Award. Every runner on the team was rec- ognized as being a valuable asset to the team.
