N101 Xl XIX ILHU Jan 31 What a day' We had our p1c tures taken for d1iTerent group act1v1t1es Feb 1 The g1rls and boys basketball teams played Penobscot on our home floor Another v1ctory' Feb 9-The boys played a basketball game w1th Southwest Harbor on th home floor Feb 10 The Natlonal Honor Soclety Banquet and In1t1at1on along Wllh the Freshman Sophomore Speakmg Exh1b1t1on The new members 1n1t1ated 1nto the So clety were Mabel Wood N11lo Anderson Roger Leach and Pearl Carter Those par t1c1pat1ng rn the speak1ng were LOUISE B11 llngs Maur1ce Duren Paullne Hunnewell A1lean Staples Ramona Wood Joseph1ne Pettenglll George Snow Waldo Co111ns and Dale Astbury Both the 1n1t1at1on and speakmg were enjoyable Feb 11 The boys and g1rls t ams played Gllman Hlgh on our home floor Were they eXc1t1ng' Weeks vacatlon ahead' Feb 15 Boys went to Ellsworth to play but were defeated Feb 25 The boys played then last game of the season w1th W1nte1 Har bor A vlctory for Stevens G1F1S also played and another v1ctory' Feb 28-The band and majorettes went to Ellsworth and pract1ced w1th the Ellsworth band for a Jolnt concert to be held at both Blue H111 and Ellsworth March 2 The Ellsworth and Blue H111 bands glee clubs orchestras and drrll teams comblned and presented a con ert ta the Blue H111 gymnaslum March 3 We held an auctlon w1th Donald B1 set as auctloneer Don proved be the man for the Job as he could very easlly persuade the students to buy an art1c1e worth l1ttle or nothlng for qulte a number of cents He sold even the cardboard box conta1n1ng the artxcles March 7 The Blue H111 band glee club orchestra and drlll team went to Ells worth where they agaxn cornblned wlth the Ellsworth groups for a concert at th Clty Hall March 10 The g1rls basketball team went to Northeast Harbor where they were defeated 1n the last game of the sea son March 17 Batons were g1ven to those students WlShlllg to try out for the dr1ll team Those trylng out were Marllyn Matthews Paulme Hunnewell Bernxce Eaton Maur1ce Duren Frances Long Q'he1la Babson Joseph1ne Pettenglll Flor ence Pert Fausta Torrey and Mlna Rob ertson under th d1rect1on of Mary Mc Graw and Jane Grlndle veterans of last year Apr115-Junlor Sen1or Exh1b1t1on was Feld at the Town Hall Those part1c1 pat1n0 111 the exh1b1t1on were Roger L ach Lawrence Matthews Hugh Le1gh ton Shella Babson Kenneth Marks Mary McGraw Mabel Wood MarJor1e Young and Frances Torrey The boys and g1rls glee club ass1sted 1n mak1ng the program en Joyable Apr1l 7 A gym exl'1b1t1on was held at the gymnaslum tonlght Tloere was wrest ball game between the h1gh school classes School closes for a whole week Isn t lt wonderful Apr1l 12 The movle Flesh and Fantasy was presented for the beneiit of the Alum Pl Assoc1at1on Apr1l 17 S hool reopens for the last ses slon Apr1l 19 Vacat1on for a day May 9 Our b1g feature of the year' The Varlety Show wlth several short sklts fashlon sl'ow, and mus1c presented by the glee club The glamour boys and g1rls of B G S A enterta1ned us wxth 1OI1 lE1llf1C s ngs Pr cedlng the Varlety Show we had a parade and a Jubllee w1th booths of all k1nds May 24-The Senlors had thelr class p1c n1c and ev1dently had a good tlme May 28-Baccalaureate address at the Baptlst church May 30 Memorlal Day Band and drlll team marched May 31 The A1umn1 Ball was held at the Gymnasmm June 1 Graduat1on CXEFCISSS were held at the Town Hall June 2 School closes for a glorlous sum mers vacatlon Have a happy vacatlon teachers and students The Class of 44 says goodbye and good luck to school mates '.
