Silvian Discipline Through Student Review Board Student Review Board consists of three judges, six jurors, two sergeants-at-arms, and one clerk, all appointed by the vice-president of Student Coun- cil. The Board’s duty is to review violations such as untidy lockers, disturbance in the halls, and snow- balling, and to take the necessary steps to correct these violations.

Seven pres- idential appointees and the officers comprise the cabinet. All must maintain a “C” average to be eligible, for membership in the Council. Meeting on alternate Wednesdays, this year’s Council initiated Clark’s second twenty-five years with a school spirit week. Another project of the Council was the organizing of school clubs to pro- vide draperies for the cafeteria. The governing body also amended the Constitution so the election of offi- cers in the future will be later in the year. Silver-Tongued Orators Also Called Debators Debate and speech teams, coached by Mr. Arthur Erickson, talked their ways through contests in debate, drama, humor, poetry, extemporaneous speech, and original ora- tory. Through their activities they could earn membership in the National Forensic League. Active parts in the High School Debater’s Conference and the Student Legislative As- sembly at Purdue University were taken by the entire group. Kokomo, Butler and Northwestern Universities, and Downers Grove were contest sites as the varsity de- bate team placed third in the Metropolitan Debate Union of Greater Chicago and were N. F. Silvian, Jack Wisemiller Thirty-three upperclassmen, including the nine who were elected last year, comprise the National Honor Society. These students met qualifications of leadership, character, service, and scholarship. A list of students in the upper third of the Junior and Senior classes was submitted to the teachers, who rated the students on the four qualities. The nine juniors and fifteen seniors with the highest ratings were then passed by a faculty committee, and they were notified of their membership in the National Honor Society. Honor Society was organized for the purpose of creating enthusiasm for scholarship, promoting worthy leadership, and stimulating the desire to render service in the school.
