CU Off; icerA Standing: L. Sparks, R. Kovach (co-treasurers) , B. Guy (president), J. Stasny (vice- president) . Sitting: B. Gacsala (secretary). Beginning their last year at George Rogers Clark High School, the Class of 1953 elected officers early in the fall to guide them through the en- suing semester. Bob Guy, as president, called class meetings to discuss the activities of the year. John Stasny, vice-president, assisted Bob, while Betty Gascala was busy with the duties of corre- spondence, commencement and name-card orders. Co-treasurers Ray Kovach and Leroy Sparks handled the financial aspects of the Senior dance, name card and commencement orders. All in all, the class officers served their class capably and efficiently. dlClAA Sponsor Dear Class of 1953: It was thus I greeted you almost four years ago, but I confess that you were then but a sea of unfamiliar faces to me. Since our many personal contacts in classes, committees, dances, and Commencement events, I think of you as good friends to whom I now must say, Farewell!” I felt honored to be chosen as your sponsor, and as you have developed and have achieved so much from year to year, I doubt if any parent could have been prouder. The road was not always smooth. We have made mis- takes, and there have been some conflicts among us. As our paths separate, let us be tolerent of each other and forget the differences. And now with my sincere good wishes to each one of you for the years ahead, may I quote from Proverbs III: Let not mercy and truth forsake thee . . . write them upon the table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favor and good understand- ing in the sight of God and man.” Sincerely, Edna Howe 30
