Coach Emerson Aldrich and his diamondmen had one of the best seasons in the history of George Rogers Clark High School baseball. With 10 victories, 8 defeats and 2 ties to their record, it was the first time in many a year” a Pioneer ball club had won more ball games than they lost. While GRC’s three .300 hitters, A1 Carpen, Ted Herman and Bob Figler, pounded enemy pitching, hurlers like Ed Doma- sica, Pete Carmichael and Bud Golubiewski stopped the oppo- sition on the defensive end. DIAMONDMEN HAVE BEST SEASON IN 10 YEARS Probably the team ' s biggest thrill of the year was their 4-3 defeat of the unconquered Raiders of Gary Emerson. With the loss of only two players, pitcher Bud Golubiewski and outfielder Joe Kvasnica, Clark fans can expect a better team in ' 52. Who knows, maybe they will be the conference champs. ROW 1 — F. Winning four, tying one and losing three was the record of the Pioneer grapplers as they had one of their better seasons under Coach Frank Concialdi. Vic Collins, outstanding senior grappler, placed second in the state meet. Eight of Coach Frank Concialdi’s boys earned major letters, while two gained minor letters.
