Bartholomew Journalism Class-Spring 1967 av? it The second edition of the fifth volume of Porter's school newspaper, the Porter Report- er, was distributed today to all students, teachers, and admin- istrators. Focusing mainly on Open House, the four-page is- sue also informed readers of new developments in school activities and clubs, department news, and a letter from the student-body president. Last semester, the iournalism class distributed an eight-page newspaper and special edition honoring our former principal, Mr. Edward G. Thompson. Also featured in the issue were articles on Porter's honor so- ciety, the Olympians, a fea- ture highlighting California's foreign communities, and sev- eral editorials. The Porter Reporter main- tains a high literary standard and a strict newspaper policy. The belief of all iournalism students and the journalism class sponsor, Miss Olinsky, is that all news must be reported accurately, completely, and in- terestingly. All written editori- als must provide both pro and con arguments of the issue. The Porter Reporter staff feels that informing the students and community of the progress achieved by a school, reporting events in a school, and pre- senting important current issues on campus are the maior jobs of a school newspaper.
