The Newman Club olf Peabody College is part olf the National Federation of Newman Clubs, an organization consisting of over live hundred units located on the campuses ol non-Catholic colleges throughout the United States. The Newman Club was founded in 1893 on the cam- pus of the University ol' Pennsylvania. Newman Clubs derive their name from the great Cardinal Newman of Page 142 England, an outstanding author and apologist lor the Catholic: faith who died in 1890. The Newman Club may be described as an organiza- tion ol' Catholic students attending non-Catholic Colleges which strives to promote their spiritual, intellectual and social welfare, The Newman Club encourages its mem- bers to take an active part in all college activities and to promote the general welfare ol' their cznnpus in at Christian manner.

Under the leaulership ol' our director and friend. Rev- erend Paul lX'loehlman, Xklestminster House has gone lor- ward with large strides in acliievmg these goals. In addition to the regular Sunday night services, the lfVednestlay luneheons and the Graduate meetings, other activities undertaken hy the Fellowship this year in eluded: the weekly Freshman supper, study and discus- sion groups, parties, the annual Na-Co-Me retreat and the addition of the Chapel-Seminar room.
