Phi Chi Alpha l'1'rsl Row: W. CZ. Thompson. Ioe Phillips, Hale Meacham. Kenneth Dever, Charles Bochms. Stanrling: Pele Prince, 'lim Wriglit, Bill Al- bright. lirit' iliillll. Nlillon lasilor. George Drewry. l're.I Lovelace. Phi Chi .-Xlpha is the only :ocial fraternity on Peabody Campus. lt came into being in ISH7 lor the purpose ol pi'cn'iding the social and lraternal lile for which it is so well noted among its men. The constitution states the l'raternity's position and aims clearly. Recognizing the fact that college is not merely a re- treat for the purpose ol' learning and that the ordinary procexses ol' lile go on. it shall be the purpose ol' Phi Chi .Xlpha to provide those phases ol' liI'e that might other- wise be overlooked. 'l'he Fraternity follows this criterion by ollering attractions and opportunities to lorm a well- rounded campus lile. and a program ol' more than :n't-rage activities lor its members. Representative ol' the activities provided by Phi Chi Alpha is the annual Orchid Ball held each year during the Spring Seaion. 'I'hrough the year are other smaller but none the less notable functions presented in the spirit olf brotherhood for which the fraternity stands. XVhile the lunetion of Phi Chi Alpha is primarily social, its activities are not bound by this factor. It is also a public-minded service organization. The annual Easter Hunt for the orphans of Nashville is a credit to the spirit of Phi Chi Alpha. Christmas brings the distribution of baskets among the needy ol the city. These pages are dedicated by the men ol Phi Chi Al- pha to the men who, by their untiring work, molded the heritage and feeling that is the lfraternity, and to those of Phi Chi Alpha who are now in the armed services of the United States and to the many who will follow them.
