Membership is based upon scholarship and achievement in educational work, high educational ideals, and ad- mirable personal qualities. Its purpose is that oi en- couraging in its members a higher degree of social service. The Alpha Pi Chapter at Peabody was installed May 14, 1927. Its membership includes faculty members senior college and graduate students. This year many Page 118 lf new members were initiated into the chapter. As mem,- bers oi the Society they accepted the ideals which Kappa Delta Pi upholds-the ideals ol Science. Fidelity to Hu- manity, Service, and 'l.'oil. Kappa Delta Pi has sponsored a series ol' public lectures by members ol the Peabody faculty. The purpose of this series was to help students and educational leaders form perspectives for our times. Many faculty members belong to the Laureate Chapter ol' Kappa Delta Pi, which is composed of men and women who have attained distinction in education.

Pi Gamma Mu J Society, was founded in 1924 to promote the improve- ment in scholarship in the social studies. Its purpose is to inspire social service to humanity by an intelligent approach to the solution of social problems. The organi- zation attempts to engender sympathy towards others with dillcrent opinions and institutions by a better mu- tual understanding. For the past few years Pi Gamma Mu has been spon- soring a book drive for the Asia Foundation.
