SOCIAL PI GAMMA CHI Pi Gamma Chi, originally a literary society, came to Peabody College from the University of Nashville in 1889. Here it took on the name ol' the Girls Chapter of George Peabody College. The purpose of the sorority is the promotion of friendship among the girls, and providing the members with a well rounded :ocial life while on campus. Pi Gams point with pride to their motto, To be, not to seem. During the year the campus becomes well acquainted with the Nile green and white colors of the sorority. The official Hower is the white rose, used on many occasions for decorations and always presented to the pledges at formal initiations, a Htting symbol to their beauty. Highlights of the year included the well remembered Dragnet party followed by the French party-the initia- tion banquet at Bozeman's-and pledge week, when white and green beanies could be seen from one end of the campus to the other. The coke party given by the pledge class was a wonderful success-and the Masque- rade Ball was a memorable event. The pleasant coming of Spring found the Pi Gams looking with anticipation for the birsorority party.
