M QIWLQ This is our school, a new school, this is our Hrst year here. We remember that only a short while ago the space now occupied by our school was held by an old and deserted house, surrounded by a tract of woods. XVe are also able to recall the formal ground-breaking ceremony, as the first small shovelful of earth was turned by hand, pre- ceding the great earth movement projects of the mighty machines. For then came the bull- dozers, the Scrapers, and the laborers. The trees were removed, the ground leveled, and the foundation set. The framework was erected, and the great piles of steel, bricks, and bags of concrete soon grew into this magnificent and modern building, containing gymnasium, lab- oratory, library, and classrooms. Finally the school was prepared to receive us. The formal dedication signaled a new era in secondary education and was an inspiration to everyone. The first students to enter this building upon its completion can remember looking down the long and gleaming corridors lined on one side with an endless row of lockers, stand- ing like sentinels to offer greeting to us all. VVe can all remember the excited eyes of the seventh grader as he Erst entered the door- way of the school -his doorway to a new life. IWL W I D VVe may also recall the senior-he could be proud in the knowledge that he was to be a member of the first graduating class. VVe remember the faculty who taught in our school, how they were always willing to aid us in our endeavors, how they gave us the op- portunity to develop our individual abilities so that we would be prepared to contribute our best as citizens. XVe, who graduate this year, shall all feel that we have left behind us something which has formed a great part of our lives. YVC are sorry to say 'fgood-byel' to all our friends, and we regret having to depart from our beloved school. We, who remain here, are happy in the knowledge that we shall not leave our friends and our school. XVe are happy to see that already our school is growing in size, not only in the mnnber of students, but also in the num- ber of classrooms. By next year we know that our school will possess large outdoor athletic facilities. XVC shall all be glad to see the results of this progress. Yes, this is our school, set in beautiful and stimulating surroundings, staffed by an under- sfanding, efficient, and inspiring faculty. May it always be an inspiration to the students who come and go and a credit to our community.
