Dedication This year, for the first time, the dedication was decided by a popular vote of the student body instead of the annual staff. As a teacher, he makes his classes enjoyable by his unpredictable ways — his lighter side and his more serious moments. As a coach, he is respected and admired by his players. There’s an empty desk in Mrs. Sigmon’s room, And an empty spot in all of our hearts, Since Markcus went away. We miss his sweet smile and his beautiful eyes. Yet we’re all so thankful To have had him for our friend, Even for such a little while. Mrs. Christine Jones In Memory of Markcus Mace We'll all remember Markcus because of that something special — that smiling face; that spirit that never gave up; that individualistic thinking! Yes, even at age eight he “stuck” to his ideas. He had his own view of life and swayed from it for no one. That “happy” disposition sometimes made teachers angry because even a scolding never changed it. He would still sneakily look up and smile causing that anger to smother and die out. In someways like chewing pencils, putting his feet in his chair, trying to be the last in line from play, and sneaking to the rest room, Markcus was like every other boy in the room. For his special qualities and his common boyish ways, he’ll be loved and remembered. One of his classmates said, “Mrs. Sigmon, I know Markcus is an angel already for good boys always become angels!” Mrs. Juanita Sigmon Third Grade Teacher 10
