Encourage- ment comes in the form of monthly meetings, which have guest speakers lec- turing on topics varying from math and physics to biology. Another purpose of Sigma Zeta is to recognise the acheive- ment of high scholarship among those fitted for membership in the society. The most dramatic way this is done is in sending a senior to present his or her research project to the national meeting which is in April. While being active in academics, Sigma Zeta is also involved with fund raising, outings, and most im- portantly, setting up an atmosphere where students of science can get togeth- er and have a fun time. Sigma Zeta was founded in 1925, George Fox College ' s Beta chapter was founded in 1978. Our chapter has the distinction of being the only Sigma Zeta club on the west coast.
