(ftt iletic (rfsswrntkm The program of the Women ' s Athletic Asso- ciation consisted entirely of intramural sports this year. Volleyball received the most emphasis with basketball and baseball taking their places in the proper season. Several girls played badminton, and some took archery for credit.. Officers were, President, Betty Ashwill ; Vice president, Mary Grace Dixon, and Secretary, Charlotte Macy. The highlight of the year for the Gold Q, the women ' s letterman club, was the annual banquet given in February. Pictiij-ed above on the opposite page are : back row ; Wohlgemuth, Haworth, Smith, Ashwill. Front row ; Manning, Nordyke, Marx and Mardock. Officers of the Gold Q were: President, Ele- nita Mardock; Vice president, Betty Ashwill, Sec- retary, Alice Gulley. Despite the draft and the OPA the MAA man- aged to support teams in football. Although teams could not travel far, a full schedule of games was played in every major sport. Considerable new equipment was purchased with money which in other years had been used for transportation. Offi- cers of the MAA were: President, Claude Lewis; Secretary, Carroll Michener and Treasurer, David Thomas. The Gold P club carried on in high spirit throughout the year, upholding school traditions, initiating new members, making the annual coastal trip and giving the Spring banquet.
