She became one of the most highly repsected players in the country. Janice’s personal accomplishments and honors were surpassed only by her contributions to her team. She started and played in all 143 games of her four-year high school career. The team won 116 games and lost 27. Janice’s competitive play helped her team win 12 tournament championships and became runners-up in 16 others. Probably the only major disappointment in Janice’s high school career was that her team was never able to claim the state championship. This is somewhat ironic since the 1976 Rebel team won the AA state championship. However, the 1979 and 1980 teams were state runners-up. Honors received by Janice were quite numerous. Among the most prestigious was being selected as a member of both the “Parade” and “Scholastic Coach” All American teams her junior and senior years. The Gulf Coast Conference coaches showed their respect for Janice by awarding her the Best - Offensive Player and Best Defensive Player awards both her junior and senior years. She was selected an All Gulf Coast Conference and All District VIII player each of her four years in high school. Janice was a member of the All State Tournament team her junior and senior years. After the 1980 season she was selected to the MAC South All Star Team.
