FAREWELL .san diego On tuesday morning the four- teenth day of September, 1954, the USS George Clymer rested quietly in her berth waiting patiently to begin the long Westward voyage. Aboard, the crew seemed restless with mixed emotions of sadness and anticipation. . . . the Marine troops-ourpassengers-had come aboard the previous day.
