Unfortunately these 4.0 achievers could not enjoy a Senior slump because of the tight competition. Grades became most important to these high standing students as they struggled to remain kings of that mountain: a B could send a valedictorian on a long, hard slide to the bottom. Class rank cards will be issued today during fourth period in the guidance office. Class rank cards. Class rank cards? Their arrival was dreaded by some Seniors, while others realized that three years of anxious waiting was ending. Prized by college bound Seniors, the class rank was worked for and rejoiced over by high-standing class members and ignored and scoffed at by lower ones. For the first time at Marshall, ten valedictorians with 4.0 averages emerged at the beginning of the year.
