Unfortunately these 4.0 achievers could not enjoy a Senior slump because of the tight competition. Grades became most important to these high standing students as they struggled to remain kings of that mountain: a B could send a valedictorian on a long, hard slide to the bottom. Their arrival was dreaded by some Seniors, while others realized that three years of anxious waiting was ending.
