The business courses, such as Typing I and Personal Typing, drew more of the academically oriented students. For many of these students, the courses provided the necessary skills for the typing of college papers as well as for work at a college job. Besides the college bound student, the numerous business courses con- tinued to appeal to those students heading for a career after high school. An estimated 75% of those students in Clerk Typing went directly into a job after high school. The Business Department provided for the needs of both college bound and career students with an emphasis on skill. Doing an exercise that requires the use of an adding machine.
