Although this made the score 14-12 Groveton, Marshall gained the needed momentum from the touchdown to win their Homecoming Game 19-14. Team members take top honors in ratings GARY CAMP and the aggressive Marshall line open the hole for All-State back, Howard Smith, as he grinds out five yards. HOWARD SMITH, Marshall ' s work horse, gets the call once more against Fairfax, the toughest defensive team in Northern Virginia. Howard proved his superb running ability by amassing over 200 yards which helped the Statesmen to nudge past Fairfax 3-0. HOWARD SMITH evades Clint Propst, but two other McLean tacklers close in as he runs around end for a seven yard gain.
