Varsity Football Outstanding record due to tremendous effort Marshall can be proud of this year ' s Varsity squad which demonstrated the capability and spirit needed for a winning team. Led by Coaches Cole and Brad¬ ford, the team ended the season with a 7-1-2 record. Outstanding seniors were co-captains Howard Smith and Bill Livermore, and Lloyd Halverson. Although Marshall is losing many players to col¬ leges, we are looking towards another fine season next year with many outstanding returning juniors. GIRLS ' VARSITY basketball coach Miss Johnson and Miss Conroy take time out for lunch. COACH COLE demonstrates proper control of the ball to the freshman basketball team. Coaches Instill confidence and skills Mr. Yost, director of Athletics, is ably as¬ sisted by a strong staff. Mr. Cole, who led our football team to a victorious season, will leave to assume the position of head football coach at W-L. Coaches Barrett, Fleming, Cloud, Crup¬ per, Lively, Bradford, and Williams also sup¬ ported the department by using their special talents to handle well-organized teams. Miss Johnson, girls ' basketball coach, led her team to a standing of second in the league. Miss Conroy joined the staff this year and brought modern dance as an enjoyable addition to girls ' sports. Misses Haskins, Stephenson and Wagon¬ er contribute with their own abilities, giving the department a well-balanced program. AS MR. Bradford strolls through the gym, he smiles and says, We ' re going to be State Champions in Baseball. 92

Although this made the score 14-12 Groveton, Marshall gained the needed momentum from the touchdown to win their Homecoming Game 19-14. Team members take top honors in ratings GARY CAMP and the aggressive Marshall line open the hole for All-State back, Howard Smith, as he grinds out five yards. MARSHALL ' S SPEEDSTER, Greg Yaroch, uses his agility, as well as a good fake to outwit a Woodson Cavalier and run for a vital first down. 94
