Varsity Basketball Often outscored but never outfought SCORES Although the year brought disappointment along with brilliant victories, the Fighting Statesmen never lost the fighting spirit. Highlighting the sea¬ son was the thrilling upset over previously unde¬ feated George Washington. As a result of this game, the northern Virginia standing was thrown into a three-way tie. Tom Plant set a new school record in the game by racking up 27 points. Coach Barrett used full court press and zone defense as part of his strategy on the court. The final tally of 5 wins and I 2 defeats does not reflect the excite¬ ment of near victory, and tight competition with this year ' s adversaries. Hockey J.V. wins 3, ties 5, for undefeated season The Junior varsity team under the coaching of Miss Faye Wagoner had a most unusual season. Though undefeated the team won only three of its eight games, four of which were scoreless for a 3-0-5 record. Scoring four points to only one point scored against them during the Jefferson game, the team looks forward to a better season next fall due to the valuable experience gained in the 1964 sea¬ son.
