On April 18,1956 the Genoa F..E.A. chapter installed the newly elected officers. ln June the new officers attended an E.E.A. officer training camp, called Camp Merrell which is located near Fullerton, Nebraska. The officers attended 3 days of instruction concerning E.E.A.. and how to be good leaders. On July 23 the E.F.A.. chapter held its annual picnic in the Genoa City Park. The picnic consisted of a business meeting followed by a watermelon feed. On August 22 the chapter held its monthly meeting in the Genoa lligh School. The freshmen, members to be of E.E.A. were guests. On October 17, the chapter held its meeting to initiate the freshmen boys into the E.F.A.. Organized entertainment and refreshments were enjoyed following the initiation. On October 5, all members attended the soil judging contest at St. Edward, Nebraska. Dana Christman was the only member to receive a ribbon. On October 12 Donald Schumacher, Frank Ramaekers Jr. Gayle Cromwell, and Mr. Orin Schnieder attended the Nebraska Annual Shell and Ear Com District Contest at Norfolk. They placed first in the judging and won a plaque which entitled them to compete in, the state contest. On November 1, they attended the State Ear and Shell Corn Contest at Grand Island. They won first place in the state. They won an engraved plaque and each received a wrist watch. Mr. Schnieder attended as the sponsor of the group. On October 12 all members attended the National Corn Picking Contest at Columbus, Nebraska. This was a very educational and entertaining day. The Genoa E.E.A.. chapter took part in a farm safety exhibit. On November 6, the E.E.A.. members attended the annual Shorthorn Cattle Judging Contest at Columbus, Nebraska. ln the Senior division, Frank liamaekers Jr. and Edward Johnson placed in the red ribbon group, and Dana Christman placed in the white ribbon group. ln the Junior division, Dale Urwin placed in the blue ribbon group. Joseph llamaekers, Harold Childers, and Larry Daumgart placed in the red ribbon group, and Donald Fusselman in the white ribbon group. The members sponsored an annual banquet inviting their fathers as guests on March 20. The banquet was held in the high school auditorium. February 6, fifteen members took part in the Annual Old Reliable Hereford Judging Contest at Grand Island, Nebraska. February 16 several members attended the district E.E.A.. Contest held at St.Paul, Nebraska. ln April severalmembers attended the State Convention held in Lincoln, Nebraska. At both conventions, members took part in different judging contests.
