FUTURE HOMEMAKERS OF AMERICA The Genoa chapter of Future Homemakers of America started their year of activities in June with three newly elected officers going to Kearney State Teacher's college for a three day officer work shop. Those who attended were secretary-Janet Pearson, degree chairman- JoAnn Ditter, and parliamentarian-Darlene Ditter. Other officers elected to serve were presi- dent-Carol Lindauer, vice-president-LaVonne Miller, historian-'Vlary Lee Brandt, and song- leader-Sandra Elm. Genoa chapter had 30 active members. Twenty members attended the district convention at Albion in October. Darlene Ditter, the district president, 'was presiding officer and Janet Pearson was the district song leader. The Genoa chapter took part in a program on Civil Defense. The annual Mother-Daughter banquet was held December 14. The program was a style review of dresses made by the members in their homemaking classes. Other special activities of the year were a clothing drive for the Goodwill Industries, state F.H.A. scholarship fund, March of Dimes drive in'Cenoa Public, concessions at foot- ball and basketball games, Easter breakfast, an all school dance, a tea for eighth grade girls and F.H.A. Week. Three delegates attended the state convention at the Lincoln Hotel, Lincoln, Nebraska March 17. The theme was Birthday Party , celebrating the 10th year of F'.H.A. in Nebraska Special goals for the year were: in Training andimproving ourselves to be more democratic in all phases of life. Qi Teaching ourselves to realize and accept our responsibliities in our homes. 131 Understanding what homemaking can contribute to our future lives at home or in business.

FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA The Genoa F. F. A. Chapter Officers visited an F. F. A. Officer training camp on June 3 to June 6, 1955. The camp, Camp Comeca, is located near Cozad, Nebraska. On July 28, the chapter held their annual outdoor picnic in the Genoa City Park. From the 9th of October to the 13th, 10 chapter members and their advisor, Mr. Schnieder, attended the annual F. F. A. National Convention at Kansas City, Missouri. The 10 members were Robert Childers, Dana Dannelly, Jerome Swanson, Harlan Wagner, Donald Schumacher, Gayle Cromwell, Frank Ramaekers, Edwin Engstrom, Ronald Dankert, and Richard Silverberg. The boys felt that the trip to Kansas City was not only enjoyable but also beneficial for their future. On November Sth, all 22 Genoa F. F. A. Chapter members attended the annual livestock judging show at Columbus, Nebraska. Jerome Swanson and Robert Childers received red ribbons in the Senior Division group at this contest. On january 31, 1956, 15 members at- tended the annual Old Reliable Judging Contest at Grand Island, Nebraska. Larry Cherry placed in the red ribbon group and Dana Dannelly placed in the white ribbon group. On March 14, the 22 Genoa Chapter F. F. A. Students, their fathers, and a number of guests attended their annual Father and Son Banquet. Once every month in the evening, the chapter held a meeting in the Genoa High School Agriculture room. After every meeting they enjoyed refreshmentsiand some kind of entertain- ment. --36-
