FUTURE HOMEMAKERS OF AMERICA The Genoa chapter of Future Homemakers of America started their year of activities in June with three newly elected officers going to Kearney State Teacher's college for a three day officer work shop. Those who attended were secretary-Janet Pearson, degree chairman- JoAnn Ditter, and parliamentarian-Darlene Ditter. Other officers elected to serve were presi- dent-Carol Lindauer, vice-president-LaVonne Miller, historian-'Vlary Lee Brandt, and song- leader-Sandra Elm. Genoa chapter had 30 active members. Twenty members attended the district convention at Albion in October. Darlene Ditter, the district president, 'was presiding officer and Janet Pearson was the district song leader. The Genoa chapter took part in a program on Civil Defense. The annual Mother-Daughter banquet was held December 14. The program was a style review of dresses made by the members in their homemaking classes. Other special activities of the year were a clothing drive for the Goodwill Industries, state F.H.A. scholarship fund, March of Dimes drive in'Cenoa Public, concessions at foot- ball and basketball games, Easter breakfast, an all school dance, a tea for eighth grade girls and F.H.A. Week. Three delegates attended the state convention at the Lincoln Hotel, Lincoln, Nebraska March 17. The theme was Birthday Party , celebrating the 10th year of F'.H.A. in Nebraska Special goals for the year were: in Training andimproving ourselves to be more democratic in all phases of life. Qi Teaching ourselves to realize and accept our responsibliities in our homes. 131 Understanding what homemaking can contribute to our future lives at home or in business.
