TKis year the volleyball scone at GHS had two new wrinkles-a |V girls team and a boys team. For a young varsity team (Senior Chris Greene being the only returning starter), the Girls Varsity squad finished the year well, posting a league record of 9 and 5. good enough to take second place in the league. According to Coach Khoury, an excellent defense added to the team s record, the only disappointment of which was three losses in the sectionals. In the first season for JV Girls Volleyball, the schedule was informal since many schools do not yet have junior varsity teams. Two early losses, one to Victor and the other to Penn Yan. were turned around to wins later in the year, an overall winning one. As indicated in the size of the team, tremendous interest was shown in a Boys Volleyball program. Hard work and early morning practices posed no problem as the team prepared itself to compete with the league leaders. Good net play and excellent serving were strong points of the fledgling team. -» : £ Sports 21
