D” helps A tough defense that led the league in shutouts and pass interceptions was the trademark of the 1977 Geneva High Varsity Football team. Penalties and mistakes continually hindered the Panther offense. Generally, Captains Jeff Quartaro, Steve Passalacqua, and )ack Augustine provided the leadership that insured a fine season. Ron Ferraro, with 396 yards, was the leading rusher, and Mike Palmieri was the leading passer with five TD's and 576 Yards. Jeff Quartaro was the leading receiver, with nine catches for 272 yards. Quartaro also blocked six punts from his defensive end position, tops in the league. Dan Parmelee led the team on defense with seventy tackles, followed closely by Tom Ward, Mark Yannotti. and Matt |ackson. Mike Cooley, ]oe DiDuro. and Ron Snyder all improved tremendously as the season progressed. “Beefy For the fall of 1978 the Panthers return seven starters on defense and seven starters on offense.
