in memonam Barbara Brind Dreams Hold fast to dreams. For if dreams die, Life is a broken-winged bird. That cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams. For when dreams go. Life is a barren field. Frozen with snow. Langston Hughes Barb's dreams were of a world in which people harmoniously worked together and loved each other. She also had a gift: an immense gift of knowledge laced with love and concern. She strove to prepare herself for this world, to change it, to make it a world of love; with her gift she could. But now Barbara is dead and her gift for the world is gone, and since she is gone, we must work harder to achieve this dream, her dream, our dream. Michael Tighe Normal day. let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you. love you. savor you. bless you. before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may. for it will not always be so. “One day I shall dig my fingers into the earth, or bury my face in the pillow, stretch my fingers taut or raise my fingers to the sky, and want more than all the world... your return.” (Abbey Press) Mike will never see the normal days return nor any day again. Mike fought a losing battle with cancer. He fought bravely; he had strength, hope and courage. Mike was everybody’s friend and what a friend we lost. True. Mike’s days are over, but we will go on living our days filled with his memories. 7
