V.’s were just as successful this year as the sensational Varsity as they also repeated as Wayne-Finger Lakes champions. Losing a tight 70-68 game to Canandaigua in the first half of the season, the Junior Varsity Basketball team went on to an undefeated second half and a 17-1 record. Outscoring their opponents by an average of 23 points, the J. V. cagers were led by sophomores Leo Dinan and Harold Fryer, who were both brought up to the varsity team during the sectionals.

A terrific offense and defense sparked the Big Red to big victories as they completed the season with an average edge of 21 points every game. Herb Sellers paced the cagers offensively with a 17 point average, while Don Williams and Steve Lahr monopolized the rebounds. As the 5 starters all averaged more than 12 points every game, the Panthers boasted of great team effort and versatility. In the sectionals Geneva continued its fine playing and running as they defeated Irondequoit in the pre-quarterfinals. Corning East in the quarterfinals, and Monroe in the semifinals, before bowing finally to a tremendous Brockport team in the finals. Leaving this season after helping Coach Spader to a 37-3 record over the past two years will be the five outstanding seniors: Rich Blue, Henry Howard, Herb Sellers, Donnie Williams, and Dave Ferris. 28
