Bolstered by fine performances by both offense and defense squads, Geneva’s football team was in the race for the W-FL championship right up to the very last game, a disappointing 20-0 loss to PennYan. The highlight of the season was the 25-0 upset victory over Mt. Carmel, who had not been beaten in two years. Mr. Manner’s second place team boasted of four All-Conference gridders: juniors Steve Lahr and Tony Calabrese, and senior linemen John Natti and Ed Goldstone. Also instrumental in the Big Red’s successful season were senior backs, Chuck Aiesi and Craig Lahr, who led the league in touchdowns this year.
