dedication We, the Class of 1955, dedicate our annual to a man we are proud to call our friend. He has served our country well in time of war. Later he entered the field of educating young Americans. He has helped us much with his advice in home room and out on the sports field. He is a person to be admired and, therefore, we are proud to dedicate our Seneca Saga to Mr. Robert Smith.

foreword In preparing Volume 31 of the Seneca Saga, the members of the Class of 1955 have tried to capture, for our own recollection and for whoever else might be interested, some of the experiences, ideas, friendships, and good times we have shared during the past four years. Through our organizations, games, discussions, and classes, many of which are shown on the following pages, we have developed individual tastes and traits. Lasting friendships have been formed. We have learned to work together. Leaders have been discovered and acclaimed. Athletics have taught us good sportsmanship, and in our classes we finally began to realize that we didn’t know ALL the answers! But behind everything we have learned and done were the never-ending efforts of our wonderful teachers, coaches, and advisers. Besides working patiently with us in the class room, they have offered understanding aid and suggestions outside the class room which have been greatly appreciated. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts! Special Acknowledgments This Annual, which will be to many a cherished token of GHS, could never have been published without the unceasing work of its chief adviser, Miss Katharine White. She has contributed generously her time and energy and we wish to express our sincere gratitude to her. We also wish to thank our other advisers, Mr. Epley and Dr. Cuony, who aided us in many ways. The interest of our photographers, the Varden Studios of Rochester, and the fine work of the Almarco Printing Company have been gratefully received. 5 The Editor.
