To the memory of C. Willard Rice who served the schools of Geneva as a member of the Board of Education for more than a quarter of a century. He was elected to the Board in 1911. He became President of the Board in 1913 and served as President continuously from that date until his death on September 30, 1949. During all these years he had the confidence of the community, he maintained a sound financial policy, and fostered a steady growth in the school system. His good business sense and legal ability were invaluable to the community. Under his leadership our schools made a steady growth in progressive education and today hold an enviable place among the schools of New York State. He was a man, take him for all in all, I shall not look upon his like again. ''Hamlet'' - Shakespeare. 9
