SENIOR PROPHECY Near the launching site in Hawaii, a large group of people were awaiting the blast off of a rocket, which was to carry Gary Huffman to Venus. Two women in the group suddenly recognized each other as former classmates. Why, Kay Doherty, whatever are you doing in Hawaii? Well, Shelby Workinger, I ' m here for the same reason as you are. To see a former classmate make history. Speaking of history, did you know that David Hirschy was the first inhabitant of Mars? Isn ' t it wonderful to have a man from your own class, Jeff Brown, President of the United States. Sue Burke was his campaign manager. Yes, it is, Shelby. Oh, the other day I read an editorial in LOOK magazine which Linda Baumgartner wrote. It was about the new singing sensations, Sheldon Mathys and the Four Quiet Ones. His band consists of Don Gillespie on trombone, and Bob Mosser, Jim Meshberger, and Doug Bixler, all playing instruments designed by Mary Wagner. Some members of our class have left the United States. Grace Amstutz and her husband are missionaries in Haiti. Jim Biberstein is an engineer in Egypt. Yes, and Linda Hawbaker is a nurse in a hospital in France, where, by the way, Cary Hanni, the famous brain surgeon, is studying newer methods of surgery. Philip Hough is the owner of a chain of supermarkets here in Hawaii. Everybody seems to enjoy Hawaii. Virginia Rhodehamel ' s husband designed this rocket. They live next door to Angela Lehman and her husband and three daughters. Ron Bollenbacher won a gold medal at the Olympics last year. Bob Kirchhofer is a private detective in New York. Ann Steiner is the secretary to Ronnie Vorhees, a famous astronomer. Bill Baumbauer is traveling with a motorcycle show. Sheryl White is a lawyer, and is going to present the defendant ' s case to Judge Steve Murphy. Cathy Tschannen is the new Physical Education teacher at Geneva. Patty Weaver owns a large horse ranch in Texas. Karen Burke is living in New York with her husband and son. She designs hats to we ar with the hair styles I create. Jane Neuenschwander and Janis Habegger have both become teachers at Geneva. Doug Edgar has worked his way up to become manager of the Ford Motor Company. Mary Ann Duff is one of his secretaries. It seems several girls have made Geneva famous for its hair stylists. Dixie Pharr, Tonya Mosser, Patty Fields, and Mary Rich all work in the Elite Shoppe in Paris. Marsha Jones and Nancy Fogle have a thriving insurance business in Geneva. Sharon Armstrong and Gloria Amstutz are styling the stars ' hair. They are living in Hollywood. Judy Bixler and her executive husband now live in Alaska. While I was visiting in Geneva I stopped in to see Darlene Kelly and her husband. Gloria Lough, her hus- band, and children are residing in Berne, Indiana. See that little boy over there? That is one of Sharon Bil- lington ' s quints. He looks just like his father, doesn ' t he? Just before I left Indiana, I went to see the Indianapolis 500 race. John Mere was driving the winning car. Oh, it ' s time for the countdown. General John Binegar is on hand to witness it. There he goes. Well, I really must go now. I am to meet Jean Augsburger at the airport. We are on our way to England to style the Queen ' s hair. I am glad to have found out what all our former classmates are doing. I ' ll see you at our next class reunion. Good-bye Kay. Good-bye, Shelby.
