PROPHECY-1967 Dear Diary, MONDAY - Today, I, Mrs. Ralph Haines fformerly Nancy Newcomerj, won a free trip to anywhere l choose to go for a week, I decided to visit all my former classmates. My first stop was at the big metropolis of Geneva, where I saw Mary Martha Wheeler. She was the librarian of the largest library in the city. While I was in the city, I also looked up Alice Lehman. She was teaching the first grade in the new elementary school which was recently constructed. Paul Neal, better known as Buzz during our school days, is now designing cars for General Motors. They moved their headquarters from Detroit to Geneva five years ago. Larry Amstutz was also in Geneva even though he doesn't live there. He is an architect now, drawing plans for the new War Memorial Coliseum that is being built in the city. TUESDAY - Today I'm flying on a jet to visit a few more classmates. Carol Call was working as the stewardess on the plane. She told me that she would be quitting soon to marry the pilot. When we reached California I decided to look up Dan Craig and his wife, the former Geraldine Flueckiger, Dan was working as a test pilot. He and Gerry have a start on a basketball team with their three little Tom's IV, V, and VI. Cecil Teeter is stationed with the Navy in San Diego. Being in the Navy hasn't made him leave the girls out of his life. Instead he now has a girl in every port. He has signed a 2 year contract with M. G. M. '??? after his Navy career is ended. WEDNESDAY - On the way back from California, I decided to stop in Chicago, to look up several old classmates. Jerry Hofstetter is leading a hazardous life. He is experimenting with new types of parachutes. While in Chicago, I went to see the Zollner Pistons play. The team had just won the Western Division Champion- ship with the star, Ivan Nevil, making 50 points. His wife Joyce travels around the world with him. Art McCollum is living a dangerous life. He is a Hell-Driver and has his own team of Hell-Drivers. Annie draws all the plans for his cars. THURSDAY - From Chicago I went to New York City where l saw Larry Hunt, the former Sue Allolder, and Warren Yoder. Larry Hunt has just produced a new type of mechanical brain. It is supposed to be better than UNIVAC. Sue Affolder is married and has one child. She is head beautician in the Hotel Waldorf-Astoria. Warren Yoder was appearing on the Ed Sullivan Show that evening, so I stayed to see the show. He has become Elvis Presley the second, He tells jokes, sings, and plays a Hawaiian guitar. FRIDAY - From New York City I took a train to South Bend. l arrived one hour later. I stopped to eat at the Glass House Restaurant on the Indiana Turnpike. Joyce Boice was working as the head waitress. Pauline Bixler attended Parkview and became an R. N. While attending, she met an intern whom she later married. They have two children and are residing in Fort Wayne. SATURDAY - From Fort Wayne I went to Decatur to see Mrs. Phil Bollinger, who was the former Norene Farlow. They have two sets of twin girls. Phil is an undertaker and has a mortuary in Decatur. Norene spends her most enjoy- able evenings sitting in Phil's mortuary reading books. On the way back to Geneva I stopped at several farms. The first place I stopped was at Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bauman's Mrs. Bauman was the former Myrna Amstutz. Their farm is one of the most modern in the country. They have three children. Steve 1Cheesej Sprunger has a large dairy farm. He has made a special kind of cheese called Cheese's Cheese . Larry Branstetter travels all over the country as coach of the Girls All American Red Heads basketball team. Alan Baumgartner lives in Indianapolis. He is a school teacher, He is married and his wife also teaches school. Shirley Nevil Habegger is living with her husband Otis and their two children. Otis has decided to make the Navy his careerg he is now stationed at New Port, Rhode Island. Lorene Neuenschwander is a missionary in Africa. I then traveled the remaining few miles to my home where my husband was probably having a time with our three children. 24
