Rhoades' team won both the league and the tournament. IUNIOR HIGH TEAM Although the junior high team didn't have a very successful year, their outlook for next season is bright. The fellows were small and young this year, but summer will bring some improvements. So look out next Novem- ber, all you other junior high teams. The class has had two parties this year. one, a halloween party given by the girls of the class. It was held in Rosanna Norr's garage, which was very nicely decorated for the occasion. As the second party, they chose to go in a group to see the Shrine Circus in the Coliseum at Fort Wayne. -'H - ' f n 'np' 1 ,., fggw M-X 3 ' wg ' -' i ' 'cc' A l. WOW!! 7. Who's next? 2. This was Caroline. She's broken all the rules-wears any old thing, and even looks good without lipstick. She upsets the boys because she doesn't go out with them. She prefers nature. She's so independent that the other girls begin to imitate her. Somebody, the boys decide, must take Caroline out, kiss her, and make her like it. Ioe's the man. Ioe has no success for 6 days and then Caroline, much to his sur- prise, kisses him. As the play ends, Ioe decides he should take much more interest in nature. H. S. With Mrs. Owens as our advisor, we chose the following officers: President, Bob Schisler: Vice Pres., Sharon Biberstein: Secretary, Elaine Hunt: Treasurer, Sharon Neal. As our last dramatic at'- tempt, we presented, under the direction of Mrs. Van Matre, the play, No More Homework, ' which proved to be a real success. Some of the most important moments of our senior year have been the days we received our graduation pictures, name cards, and announcements: but, of course, the biggest will be the night we receive our diplomas. Now, as we leave Geneva for the last time as students, we look back and remember the wonderful, happy years we have had here. We wish to thank our teachers and our parents for making these years possible. , After twelve years of school, we have found our motto to stand true, Never try dying, die trying. Sponsored by GENEVA WELDING CO., GENEVA, IND., 6 STUCKY FURNITURE CO., MONROE 49 PROPHECY I was asked by a member of the class of 1964 for a list of the members of my class, the class of '54, I was pleased to have this opportunity to look up my old classmates and find out what they are doing now, ten years after we have graduated. I decided to go down the list of names the way the teachers always did in order to get grades. First came Ruth Annette Amstutz. She is liv- ing in Fort Wayne, and as she always said, she married her boss. After graduation, she went to college: then became a private secretary for her husband. Her main hobby now is taking care of her two children, a boy and a girl. Helen fBakerD Stucky lives in Geneva and takes care of herself while all her maids clean the house and get the meals. She says there is noth- ing like leading a life of leisure. I had a terrible time trying to track down the quiet one in our class, Barbara Baumgartnerg but at last I managed it. No wonder it was such a job! Do you know where she is? She's living in Arizona and says it's just wonderful. After graduating from Geneva High School, Sharon Biberstein went to Business College in Ft. Wayne. She is now residing in Detroit, Mich.: is marriedg has two boys and a girl, and is very happy- , Dorothy Boice is employed at the Stork Club in New York. She loves her work and one of the singers there. She'll never live in a small town again. Larry Bollenbacher, who is one of the best farmers around Geneva, is making headway in the Agriculture Department. He married a former student of Geneva School and is very happy with his wife and twin boys. Roger Call joined the Air Force soon after graduation and was in service for 4 years. While serving his country, he was stationed in Hawaii: there he met a sweet little Hawaiian girl, married her, and brought her back to the U. S., grass skirt and all! Don Dailey joined the army and has decided to make it his career. Naturally, he hasn't left girls out of his life completely. It's just that in- stead of having a different one in every port, he has a different one in every base. Last Memorial Day a great event occurred, Jerome Henry Ellenberger, former student of G. H. S., won the five-hundred-mile race. His chief mechanic was Bob Hofstetter. It is rumored that they are going to be in it again this year, so be sure to watch for car number 2232. Shirley Fenstermaker still lives here in Geneva. She is married and has a little red-headed girl who looks as though she will be big enough to tell her mother what's what in only a few more years. Sharlene Flueckiger is living in Chicago. She has a very good job as a private secretary in one of Chicago's leading firms and also helps Alice tNorrJ with her work in the needy district of Chicago. Larry Hanni has taken over Menno Ville and is growing in business more and more all the time. He has almost wiped Berne Fumiture out with his Menno Furniture Co., which is in Geneva. He married the former Marilyn Baker and has a start on a first team lboy five years oldl and a yell leader. Carol Hector finally managed to persuade T.W.A. that she would make a wonderful stewardess, in spite of the fact that she has to wear glasses. She has proven herself to be top-notch in the air and is ending her career with a pilot. Elaine Hunt, who is an R.N., took her training at Parkview Methodist School of Nursing. While there, she met a young intern, and as soon as he finished his internship, they were married. They now have twins, a boy and a girl, and a baby boy almost a year old. She is now residing in Fort Wayne. Lowell Landers managed to get a job at Dun- bars and has progressed nicely-he is now a fore- man. He married the former Marilyn Zuercherg they have a nice home east of Berne and three lovely children. Jean Lehman worked for several months at Berne Furniture, then went to Ball State Teach- ers College. Now she teaches the first grade in Berne, Indiana, and resides there with her hus- band, Roger, and two children. We all are quite proud of the U. S.'s top pitcher because it is none other than Carl Macklin, pitch- ing for the Cincinnati Reds. I guess he got hooked by a cute little bonde in '56. You know, of course, that was LEAP YEAR. . Ruth Moser has done very well. She is the president of the United States' Audubon Associ- ation and is married to a very fine artist. Sharon Neal has a swell job too. She is one of the leading hair stylists in Hollywood. Her main job is keeping Lassie's hair wavy! Of all the places to look for Alice Norr! I could hardly believe it when her mother told me that she was teaching in the slum area of Chicago. She has greatly influenced the children there, thus helping clean up this district. While in college, she met and married a young man who is interested in the slum situation also. He is a minister and has done wonders in this area. Velma tPattyD Schisler's physics and chemistry have helped her in her own work as well as in assisting her husband. She married Bob Schisler, who is an engineer. Bob has constructed a bridge across the Bering Strait. If you have one foot in the grave, don't forget Rhoades' Mortuary in Fort Recovery, Ohio. We hear people are co-operating with him, and he never has any complaints. He married the former Joan Hoffman, and they are now residing in Ft. Recovery. Dave Robinson is married and lives south of Geneva on his own farm, which he purchased after serving three years in the service. He is very happy. Sharon Stahly went to nurses' training: but as soon as she finished, she decided to give up her career for a family and a normal married life. Her husband is a doctor. Elwin Van Emon is helping his father with the farming and has found his agriculture to be very useful in his work. Bonnie Vorhees was a clerk in a large depart- ment store in Los Angeles. She was waiting for one of the big producers to discover all her hid- den talent. One did discover her and decided to claim her as his own private property. They live in the suburbs of Los Angeles. Lois tWal1aceJ Brown is a commercial teacher at Logansport High School She loves it there and her husband is an excellent pharmacist-the best the town has ever had. They have two chil- dren. A neighbor lady takes care of the little ones through the day. I guess I had better include myself, Sue Ly- barger, in this. I live about three miles west of Hartford, am married to Tom Murphy, have two boys and two girls, and am very happy. Sponsored by 50 COCA-COLA BOTTLING COMPANY, PORTLAND. INDIANA SENIOR POEMS Ruth Annette Amstutz, A cute little miss. Went to school for twelve years Before her first kiss. A swell girl is Helen, With a sweet and ready smile. If it weren't for Stucky, Her time wouldn't be worth while. Barbara Baumgartner, so happy and gay, Never seems to have anything to say. With all the boys she's very shy, But she could get one if she would try. Sharon Biberstein, our Senior queen, The greatest the school has known, Can sleep while sitting up: This, she has readily shown. When Pamela Iones was elected student council president, never did she dream that for one day she would be having to make the thousand and one decisions required of a school principal: but that occasion arose. With Mr. Lundquist, the principal, on his way to a convention: and both the vice principal and school secretary ill, the student council was given the reins. Buzz Bailey as substitute home economics teacher and a limburger cheese sandwich in the trunkful of costumes for Rusty Wings, were not the worst of the antics. Somehow at the end of the day, when Mr. Lundquist returned, situations managed to right themselves: and the school regained normalcy. PORTLAND, IND. 9 , X , J Punk's Barber Sho THE BRIDGE BUILDER An old man, going a lone highway, Came at evening, cold and grav, To a chasm vast and deep and wide Through which was flowing a sullen tide. The old man crossed in the twilight dim, The sullen stream had no fears for him: But he turned when he reached the other side And built a bridge to span the tide. Old man, said a fellow traveler near, You are wasting your strength in building here, Your journey will end with the closing day. You never again must pass this way. You have crossed the chasm deep and wide, Why build you this bridge at eventide? The builder lifted his old gray head. Good friend, in the path I have come, he said, There follows after me today A youth whose feet must pass this way. This chasm that has been naught for me To that fair-haired youth may a pitfall be. He, too, must cross in the twilight dim. Good sir, I am building this bridge for him. - William Allen Dromgoole DONATIONS P . Iudys Beauty Shop Gus Mann 55 tyffht. V-J. :X .
