3111 illrmnrtam Sophomore Class 1-llstory N September of 1936 thrrty slx proud boys and gxrls assembled themselves as the flrst freshman class m the new school bulldmg The fxrst ofhcers of the Class of 1940 were Louxse Smith presxdent Franklxn Armstrong uce presxdent and Ednth Hoffman secretary and treasurer Durmg the year we lost two members Ralph Stucky and Dwight Felty Everythmg vsent along smoothly throughout the flrst year and on May the flfteenth vte left the school house for a vacation of four months On August the eleventh one of the class s top rankmg students was knlled ln an automoblle accxdent Thxs student was B111 Blocker ln September of 1937 we reassembled ln the school house as sophomores wlth thlrty one m number Thxs year s oflicers are Edlth Hoffman president Warren George Havnland vlce presndent and Franklm Armstrong secretary and treasurer Later m the fall Frank Butler moved to Mxchlgan makmg the total enrollment thxrty Nomvmrw GRILE B111 Blnrkrr In the fall of 1935 a newcomer enrolled m the enghth grade of Geneva Hugh School He gave hrs name as Alvm Orm Blocker but the cheerful happy lad soon became known to hxs school mates and frlends as Bllly Bob Bully Bob was an excellent student and hns cheerful and kmd dxsposntnon won hum many frnends and admnrers Each mormng as we go to our classes there xs one boy mrssmg but thxs rs only bodnly for hrs spmt ns wnth us each day ln the fall of 1937 Bully Bob would have entered the sopho more class of Geneva Hxgh School wnth a smxle but durmg has summer vacatnon he was taken from thns earth and ns now wxth many of hns frxends on an everlastmg vacatnon m a world of happmess Bully s departure has been greatly grxeved by all who knew htm At home at school and on the street everywhere there ns a vacancy whxch cannot be fxlled But Bully s spmt lxves on Hrs resolute convnctxon that a smxle was the best weapon wxth whnch to meet any sltuatnon wlll be remembered by all of us and we shall endeavor to carry thus spnrnt wnth us as we move onward through llfe constantly approachmg the moment when we shall agam hear hrs famnllar vonce and see that same nrresns tlble smlle Ons Bucxev I l 3 by - , 1 .'- Z .
