While this may be true in many high schools, it is certain- ly not the case in Geneva 'High School. We can boast of as little of this attitude as, we believe, it is possible to find in any high school. There is no doubt but that those who first begin high schol make a few mistakes, but we all live and learn. Who knows but that the greenest beginners will graduate with the most brilliant success. Some of the great- est benefits d-erived from a school life are those which come from social relations, so it behooves everybody to cultivate a congenial and friendly attitude. We know that there are many, many things to be learned in a school besides the know- ledge of books. L-et it be hoped that the students of Geneva High School will continue, and if possible improve, the social and friendly relationship between the different classes. Toasts TO OUR ADVERTISERS. Our devotion to you we will surely show, For you have aided us far more than the rest, Our thanks we now kin lly bestow, And we know your goods are the best, To you we shall be true, and desert you, never, Your kindness we'll remember for ever. TO THE PUBLIC A toast to the citizens true, A toast, fellow students, to youg Your devotion to us you have loyally shown! As we leave G. H. S. We wish to make known Our greatful remembrance of you. TO THE G. H. S. FACULTY For their loyalty, faithfulness and zeal, For their help at our every appeal, For their labors by night and by day, For our victory in work and in play, For these favors and many things more, On them earth's deepest joys we implore. May God's blessings on them be outpoured, May they feel that their work has endured.

The Meanest Boy in Town He was a sturdy lad, perhaps six or seven years old: the freckles on his face gleamed very prominently under a tattered straw hat which flapped about his dirty face. His lips were pursed into a whistle, and in his bright gray eyes lurked d-emons of mischief. For didn't he know that the can of fishworms he was carrying provoked Aunt Miriam more than anything else, and couldn't he make Beth Brown shriek with horror when he held them up before her? This is just a dandy day for fishin', observed Jim scan- ning the sky. They will bite just to beat everything. Three hours till noon and Auntie won't know the difference. Jim, oh Jim, you come right here, but Jim had suddenly disap- peared. Jim, I say come here. Still no answer, for Jim was hiding behind a tree. Jim Walked unconcernedly around to the front porch Where his aunt beheld his muddy feet in horror and shrieked, Don't you come on this clean porch with them feet. Go around to the back doorg Don't step on that iiower bed 5 and several other warnings that Jim did not h-ear. He didn't reach the back door, for at that time he beheld Johnny Roberts with Beth Brown his chosen sweetheart. After a desperate battle Jim walked OH triumphant with Beth cling- ing to his hand, and an id-ea firmly fixed in her head that Jim was a hero. At this moment a question of great importance confronted him. How would he escape from Beth to join in the swim- ming contest at the Old Creek? But after making up his mind once he acted promptly, so excusing himself on pretext of an errand he ran directly to Old Creek disdaining to conform to appearances even for Beth. He arrived home at noon and for once his meanness had not been discovered. That afternoon Jim went to visit Miss Marsh the maiden lady Who lived next door. She liked him but was always afraid he would play some prank on her. On this occasion he sat down very demurely to watch her baking seed-cakes. Finally he said, Say, Miss Marsh, my Auntie said you was about forty, and that you dressed like a girl of twenty, and you powdered and painted, now honest do you ? 1 Miss Marsh flew in a fury and declared it wasn't tru-e, and when next she met Mrs. Day she treated her very distantly. Mrs. Day could not understand it and when she did find out Jim was spanked soundly. Jim felt the horrible injustice keenly but as he remarked sagely, They always thrash me for things they say them- selves then call me the meanest kid in town. It aint fair, 'tal1.
