As in filling a vessel drop by drop, there is at last a drop which it run over; so in a series of kindnesses there is at last one which makes the heart run over. The best mirror is an old friend When Fortune’s fickle, the faithful friend is found 5 Happy is the house that shelters a friend. The only reward of virtue is virtue; the only way to have a friend is to be one. SENIORS SENIOR AWARDS Peter Cooper Memorial Award Barbara D. Jay David Viking golfers once again had a great season. Led by Captain Dave Bull, the varsity players went undefeated in conference play to sweep up first place. In the Conference Tourney the varsity took first place. While at the Crown Invitational Tourney, the Vikings grabbed eighth out of 24 teams. The sophomore team, with only four golfers, finished fifth in the conference. 1978 Golf Record VARSITY Conference Record 7-0 Overall 9-3 1st Place in Little Seven Conference 8th Place in Crown Invitational SOPHOMORE—J.V. Overall 5-6-17 Plagued by a shortage of players, the Hockey Club ended the season with an 8-19-0 record. This season s record bettered last year's and the team’s future is looking up. With 15 eighth graders coming up and only 3 seniors leaving, there will be an abundance of talent next year. Another bright spot is the fact that sophomores Bob Rogers and Jerry Ryan, who played on the All-Star team, are returning. Craig Shodeen, nominated for the All- Star team, is also returning. The varsity team, led by Doug Marsh, took first-place at second singles and two third-places behind two very strong Batavia and Oswego teams.
