LISA SCHMITZ wills her favorite stick to Jill Holtsberg; her white, half bra looking top for camp to Pat Brodie; the control of the squad along with her unending patience to Kim and Patrice; and external visions of green blobs, pizza, Irma, “Telephone Rock,” lost points and sore muscles to the rest of the squad. DONNA MARTIN wills her perfect attendance record (no skips) to Julie Dohm. EILEEN SUTHERLAND AND KARI ANDREASSEN will Starved Rock toT. D. and J. S. RICHARD L. HENDRICKSON wills three Phaser Salvos, two Photon Torpedos and one Dis- abled Shuttlecraft to the underclassmen. S. N. AND S. C. will a roll of paper towels to Val Lencioni. PATRICIA L. CAMERON wills Chapter 10: Vectors, in Math IV to the school, and Mr. Pin- ter’s constant optimism of “We’ll work it out in lessons” to all band members. NANCY DARNUTZER wills one can of Spam, a comfy chair, one dead parrot, one budgie, a beautiful lounge suite, a nudge, one Hungarian-English dictionary, a polystyrene nose, and one flower arrangement done by Mr. D. P. Gumby to Mike Merrill, Rich Bagby, JoAnn Pauley, Linda Marcotte, Eric Smith, Jon France, and the rest of the Drama Club members. PATRICK BARBER wills buckeye leaves to Ned Haskell and Dave Hemenway; a car that can’t run into snowbanks and can start in the rain to Thea Kuller. BETSY ANDERSON wills her typewriter in 2nd Hour typing to Terri Anderson; her seat in Mr. Kalicki’s joyful economics class to all the underclassmen who get stuck taking that class; her dancing talent and gymnastic skills to Barb Ulin; and her jump rope to Deb Sandquist. BRETT ARMBRUSTER wills his mind to Mr. Kalicki, his locker to anyone who wants it; and one case of dynamite, with detenator, to the junior class. He would like to leave his thoughts behind, but he knows they won’t be printed. DOROTHY MALONE wills the name “Toad” to anyone capable of handling those horns. CARLA MOORE, JULIE DIEHL AND ANN LOVETT will PLB — doing to Eric Diehl and Mike Fromknecht. MIKE BROWNE wills the names “Dog” and “Turtleboy” to anyone under 5'9 with enough ambition and determination to overcome the humiliation and accept the responsibilities of their meanings, but the “Bobby” will always be his. STEPHANIE GERICKE AND ANGELA KATSULEAS will the French III script of the famous Viking Revue act to Val Lencioni and Sandy Davidson. And Testament RANDY HOWINGTON wills his pet shark Oscar to the little nurd who stole him, and if he finds out who you are. . . and he wills the Safety Buffalo to any unfortunate soul who gets him. TAD DOWNER wills all his abused and broken drum sticks to Tod Craft. LISA COWDREY wills the entire hassle of putting a yearbook together to the class of ’79, and good luck! MIKE CARSTENSEN wills his gentleman attitude to Mr. Barton, and the word “foxy” to a girl that will graduate in 1980. BOB CARLSON wills his intelligence of beating the system to all the Juniors. STEVE (STUBS) DELABAR wills his sideburns to Rich (Baldy) Carlson because he needs them, and speaking for all Bud Bros., he wills their school rule to whatever club is tough enough. THE HOMEROOM CLASS OF ROOM 224 wills Mr. R. Kalicki to the mercy of the incoming uncivilized freshmen rowdies and the “five-year planners.” KARI, SANDY, ANDGINNY will their bottle of sloe gin to Troy and Goph. NANCY REIF wills an eraser for her locker door to Shelly Tevis. SUDS wills her “virgin neck” to all you “married ladies.” ANONYMOUS SENIORS HAVE WILLED THE FOLLOWING: The most infamous homeroom teacher of them all who you will come to know as Robbi to the incoming freshmen. All the lowdown jokes about my hair. . . and yes, it is natural. A locker to the underclassmen, because the handle came off and now does not open. Memories of the class of 1978, Loretta Alessio and her comical antics. Mush ball in 7th Hour P.E. Mr. Suhrbur’s Cicero accent, Mr. Machaj’s plants, Mr. Cooper’s humor, Conterato’s nose, a vic- tory for another referendum, Simpson’s zanyness, a great Viking Revue, 7th hour gym class soft- ball, fool-proof registration, and fool-proof administration. An instant repairman who appears anytime a typewriter breaks down, a huge fan that blows smoke back into the smoker’s face in the washroom, an erasable pass book to change the time and date on passes, a lifelong supply of chalk and staples, and a room full of ungraded papers dating back to 1880. All the luck in the world to make it through the severe disease called SENIORITIS to the class of 1979. 10 Category Votes Class Flirts: Konnie Granquist Steve DeLaBar Most Likeable: Arm Lovett Mike Kintz Most Likely to Succeed: Maureen Emma Walker Filbert Most Athletic: Brenda Broy Tim Suminski Most Talkative: Eileen Sutherland Steve Fromknecht mssm 4ft Most Intelligent: Walker Filbert Brenda Brov Class Couple: Paula Peterson and Matt Benson Best Dressed: Juliene Tucker Matt Tedrick Most Talented: Konnie Granquist Bruce Simpson Best'Looking: Timarie Jahlonski Steve Glass 13 Senior Awards Peter Cooper Award Barbara D. WE CAME A LONG WA Y, BAB Y After losing two non-conference games in a row to West Chicago and St. Charles, Geneva seemed to be off to a some- what poor start. That all changed when Geneva defeated Batavia 27-0 for the first conference win. Adding a bit more promise to the team, the good guys in blue defeated both Kaneland and Oswego by a score of 20-13. These scores obvi- ously didn't show the capability of the well coached offense, not to mention the defense. Homecoming came and so did a good Morris team that Geneva handily beat 21-0 for a grand Homecoming victory. By this time everything started to fall in place for the Vikings including two well gifted running backs, Tom Livingston and Joe Herrera, who started closing in on some records. Geneva continued on its winning record by beating last year's conference champs. Sycamore, in a game filled with touchdowns. The next foe was Plainfield, the so-called confer- ence favorites, and good old Mr. Bell got his team taken to the cleaners that night with a 35-14 win for the Vikes, who the fol- lowing week beat Waubonsie Valley easily, to end up as con- ference champs with a 7-0 record and 7-2 overall. Beginning with the first playoff game at Harvard, Geneva gladly beat the Hornets 28-13 in a much talked about game. The second round game brought Benet to Geneva in a beauti- fully played game by both teams. The score 30-28 showed how close a game it really was. This win brought Geneva to the semi-final game against Geneseo. Half the town made the long ride out to Geneseo to see the Vikes play their last game of the season, as the time on the clock slipped away with the final score 21-14, Geneseo victors, as well as 3A champs the following week. 44 Vikes square off against opponent. The Vikings coasted the rest of the way with wins over Kaneland, Oswego, previously unbeaten and un- scored upon Morris, unbeaten Sycamore.
