Homecoming Was . . . ... an inevitable success. The worn and festive WELCOME ALUMNI banner (top) decorated the scene along with the creative field decorations. The Homecoming Court (middle) included from left to right Attendants Kevin Bell, Kelli Cornick, and Judy Banker; Homecoming Royalty Brett Sanders, Queen Barb Jakubowski, Emily Waters, and Sue Kessler; Attendant Steve Glass; and. not pictured, Ed Gcricke and King John Nitkey. The bonfire was especially fun (bottom left). The stolen wood was set aflame to warm the hearts and bodies of the chilled couples. To preside over the bright pageantry were the wonderfully becoming faces of Queen Barb Jakubowski and King John Nitkey (bottom right). To top it all off, our heroic football team summoned all their skill and energy to create a machine that demolished a whimpering Kaneland squad. The extravagant 54-13 victory for the Vikings brought smiles of superiority to the buoyant faces of Geneva fans.

Float Competition It was an overcast sky for Friday afternoon’s Homecoming Parade, with an ever-present chill to remind us to bring warm things to the Big Game that night. The floats that afternoon provided the color that the sky was missing. The parade was a flurry of colors and figures, passing the school with a trailing crowd that followed the procession downtown. Awards this year went to the following entries: the senior float finally placed first (top), the sophomore float second (upper left), and junior float third (lower right), and the freshman float came in last (lower left).
