Randy Hellwig Steve Holat Tom Seifrid Karen Covey Dave Lindberg Becky Burton Jill Kammerer Lynn Frye John Tyler Pam Hoffmann Reebie Krehbiel i ... if the civilized man’s pursuits are no worthier than the savage’s, if he is employed the greater part of his life in obtaining gross necessaries and com- forts merely, why should he have a bet- ter dwelling than the farmer? — Thoreau 2 4 The indescribable innocence and beneficence of Nature — of sun and wind and rain, of summer and winter — such health, such cheer, they afford forever! The very simplicity and nakedness of man’s life in the primitive ages imply this advantage, at least, that they left him still but a sojourner in nature . . . He dwelt, as it were, in a tent in this world, and was either threading the valleys, or crossing the plains, or climbing the mountain tops. 8 I find it wholesome to be alone the greater part of the time. To be in company, even with the best, is soon wearisome and dissi- pating. 9 Perhaps what most moves us in winter is some reminiscence of far-off summer. . . to What beauty in the running brooks! What life! The cold is merely superficial; it is summer still at the core, far, far within. n God is alone, — but the devil, he is far from being alone; he sees a great deal of company; he is legion. I am no more lonely than a single mullein or dandelion in a pasture, or a bean leaf, or sorrel, or a horse-fly, or a bumble-bee. 12 Simplify, Simplify, Simplify! There is more day to dawn . . . The sun is but a morning star. 16 CONTENTS Philosophy 2 Seniors 12 Fall 49 Winter 61 Spring 75 Life 89 Inhabitants 122 Finale 160 KYLE L. The celebration began with the coronation of the queen and her court at the excitement fraught pep assem- bly. The lucky ladies nominated for their posi- tions by the student body. — As if the thrills of the pep assembly were not enough to fulfill one evening’s desires, the masses were led by our friendly neighbor, the policeman, through the streets of Geneva on a Victory March to Gecohi for spicy barbecues and cool orange drinks. On Friday afternoon, October 5, the towns- people thronged the streets of Geneva to become eye-witness observers of the pag- eantry of the 1973 Homecoming Parade. 54 99 “The Big Dance” J+ . ► w r V - V, fc 77. •. v-.V S' - ' , ■- w a f 57 Cross Country Varsity — top row, left to right: Mgr.
