Miss McReynolds comments on Laura Lake's work. Art Designs For Tomorrow Besides possessing great talent, Gecohi art students have the desire to seek the highest degree of perfection attainable. This year, art students displayed their many fine works at the annual art show, 'Shades of 70. Linda Mueller painted this scene called Summer Silence. Senior Art Award winner, Cathy Kallman, designed this work of art. Mark Allen and Linda Dietrick sketch portraits of Sherri Anderson. 78 Art students also erected this display out of boxes. Forensics . . . The Art Of Speech Speech contestants. Debate Club, and Speech class are the phases of forensics explored at Geneva High School. Mr. Williams, speech teacher and debate coach, helps his students grasp a principle of debate. In speech class, Thom Collins demonstrates a phase of speech, the pan- tomine. Mr. Williams and Cathy Emma listen to a speech, making constructive criticisms. Viking Staff Dave Ball make use of a courtyard door to crop football picture . Familiar item : pictures, pencils, rough draft and old yearbooks. Viking staff members have an enthusiastic outlook for this year's production. B. Priestley's The Linden Tree. The story evolves around the retirement of college professor Robert Linden (Bruce Pflaum). His wife Isabel (Leslie Hemenway) and four children, Marion (Ann Wilson), Rex (Rich Lencioni), Dinah (Kathy Aiken), and Jean (Sue Cowen) urge him to retire. He flatly refuses; and as a result his entire family except for Dinah leave him. When two students (Paula Frasz and Bob Heitzman) come to talk to him, they enhance the already growing family tensions. The drama is occasionally inter- rupted by the antics of Mrs. Cotton (Linda Averill) who adds color by her lack of finesse. Unfortunately though, the play ends when Afred Lockhart (Ralph Herda) informs the professor he will probably be forced to resign. This money making event proved to be successful. Congratulations to the Class of '71. In his spare moments. Junior Class play director, Mr. Williams, studies important passages in the play. Bruce Pflaum competently advises his student, Paula Frasz.
